HAYWARD, California (October 5, 2016) — A young man identified as Jose Hernandez, 26, of Hayward, was killed early Wednesday morning in what is believed to be a hit-and-run crash on Tennyson Road at the entrance to the southbound Interstate 880 Freeway, a California Highway Patrol report said.

The bike was on the left-hand side of the on-ramp as the victim, Jose Hernandez, was confirmed to have sustained fatal injuries as he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are investigating the fatal crash and hope to find the driver responsible.

There were 82 people killed and 6,500 injured in 2013 traffic accidents in Alameda County, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide integrated Traffic Report. In the city of Hayward, there were 11 deaths and 560 people injured that year including 2 killed in bicycle crashes and 36 injured, the CHP statistics report said.
