2 Dead After Tour Bus Crashes Into 2 Vehicles
DATE OF COLLISION: Tuesday, October 30th
October 31, 2018- According to the East Bay Times, a deadly collision involving a tour bus was reported last night on I-880 north near the Whipple Road off-ramp at roughly 10:40 p.m.
California Highway Patrol officials responded to the collision and noted that four total vehicles were involved including a tour bus, a Ford, a Lexus, and a UPS truck.
Preliminary investigations have indicated that the operator of the tour bus failed to stop for traffic and slammed into the rear of the Lexus forcing it off the side of the road. The bus then struck a Ford which pinballed into the back of the UPS truck.
Following the collision, both the driver of the Ford, a male, and the Lexus, a female, suffered fatal injuries and were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Neither victim has been identified at this time.
Meanwhile, there were no reports of anyone else sustaining injuries as both the UPS truck driver and the tour bus driver were ok and declined any medical assistance.
It was unclear whether or not there were any passengers on board the tour bus as those details were not disclosed.
At this time, CHP officials are currently investigating the collision and are unsure why the tour bus driver was unable to stop in time before triggering the crash.
No further information has been made available as the investigation is currently ongoing.
