Two Critically Injured in Crash on Panama Lane

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Jan. 16, 2024) — Two people were severely injured Sunday in a head-on crash on Panama Lane in Bakersfield.

The two-vehicle collision occurred at about 5:04 a.m. on Jan. 14, 2024, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers responded to the crash scene on Panama Lane, just east of Oswell Street. They located the drivers of a 2022 Cadillac and a 2013 GMC that had collided., Bakersfield Now reports.

Police determined that a man was driving the Cadillac was heading eastbound on Panama Lane and a 62-year-old Bakersfield man was driving the GMC westbound.

Authorities do not know what speed the two drivers were traveling when they both collided. One of the vehicles must have crossed into the path of the other one, but further investigation is necessary to determine fault.

Paramedics responded to transport both drivers who sustained major injuries after the collision.

Finally, investigators do not know if drugs and or alcohol were factors and they are asking witnesses to call the Bakersfield CHP Area at (661) 396-6600.
