Pickup, Van and Semi-Truck Collision
BYRON, Calif. (June 29, 2023) — A head-on Byron crash involving major injuries happened Thursday on Camino Diablo, just east of Vasco Road.
The 3-vehicle collision occurred in the westbound lanes around 5:32 a.m. on June 29th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch report.
The drivers of a black Ford Ranger pickup truck, a Nissan van and a semi-truck were involved. The pickup truck and van collided head-on and at least one hit the semi-truck carrying a 5,000-pound load of portable toilets.
The truck and van suffered major front-end damage in the collision.
Paramedics with the Contra Costa County Fire Department responded and located at least one person with major injuries who they transported to a hospital for further treatment. The report did not mention the total number of injuries.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the pickup truck, the van and the semi-truck from the roadway. Camino Diablo was closed down in both directions due to the collision.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the Byron crash on Camino Diablo.
