2 Injured in Crash on SR-178 in Kern County
KERN COUNTY, Calif. (June 12, 2024) — Two people were injured in a possible head-on collision on State Route 178, just north of the Upper Richbar Picnic Area in Bakersfield.
The two-vehicle collision occurred just north of Dougherty Creek. It happened at around 7:36 a.m. on June 12th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
A construction crew in the area may have witnessed the collision and called 911.
The driver of a silver Chevrolet Malibu collided with a red sedan due to unknown circumstances. Both of the vehicles were deemed “totaled.” It happened on the highway that follows the Kern River between Bakersfield and Lake Isabella.
Firefighters and paramedics responded and located two people with minor injuries. They transported the injured to a hospital for further treatment, but there are no further details.
It’s unknown at this time what led up to the accident. However, investigators are working to determine fault for the collision on State Route 178.
