Head-On Crash Biggar Lane at SR-162 in Covelo, Mendocino County

3 Injured in Crash at Highway 162 and Biggar Lane

MENCOCINO COUNTY, Calif., (August 14, 2026) — At least three people including two girls were injured in a head-on crash Thursday afternoon at Biggar Lane near State Route 162 in the Covelo area of Mendocino County.

The incident occurred on Aug. 13th around 2:50 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), and involved a silver Nissan truck and a gray small sedan. Initial reports indicated that the vehicles collided head-on, blocking both lanes of traffic. Some of the involved parties reportedly self-transferred to a nearby fire station.

Emergency services, including paramedics, were dispatched to the scene. The situation was later updated to a major injury collision. One person was airlifted to a hospital, with two others taken by ground ambulances to the hospital. McCaffery’s Towing was called to the site to remove the damaged vehicles from the roadway.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and have requested that any witnesses come forward to aid in the investigation.
