Head-on Crash El Sobrante Road, Mockingbird Canyon Road in Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif., (Dec. 30, 2025) — Ronney Vasquez, 61, of Moreno Valley, died Tuesday morning in a head-on crash at El Sobrante Road and Mockingbird Canyon Road near Lake Matthews in Riverside County, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol officers were dispatched at about 7:40 a.m. on Dec. 30th to reports of a head-on collision involving a black Kia sedan and a grey sedan. One of the vehicles overturned and came to rest on its roof, according to a CHP incident log.

CAL Fire Riverside firefighters responded and extricated at least one occupant from a vehicle. An ambulance was requested and transported an injured person from the scene. The extent of injuries was not immediately available.

The crash temporarily blocked lanes in the area while emergency crews worked and a tow truck removed the vehicles. One tow request was later canceled as the scene was cleared.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation.
