SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. (Feb. 7, 2024) — A head-on crash happened Wednesday morning on westbound Highway 299 near Hatchet Ridge and west of Burney in Shasta County.

The two-vehicle collision occurred on State Route 299 at around 9:07 a.m. on Feb. 7th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It’s unknown at this time what vehicle caused the collision.

CHP officials reported the drivers of a Chevrolet Avalanche and a second vehicle were involved. The pickup truck had front-end damage and required a tow truck, but there are no details about the second vehicle involved.

Meanwhile, paramedics responded to help at least one person with minor to moderate injuries from the collision.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the Shasta County crash on Highway 299 near Burney.
