Head-on Crash in Hollister on Highway 156, Rocks Road

HOLLISTER, Calif. (Sept. 17, 2026) — A head-on crash happened early Wednesday morning on Highway 156 at Rocks Road in Hollister, resulting in the arrest of one driver on DUI charges.

It happened around 4:31 a.m. on Sept. 16th when CHP dispatchers were notified of a wrong-way driver in San Benito County.

According to the California Highway Patrol Hollister-Gilroy station, a woman driving a Nissan sedan on the wrong side of Highway 156 crashed head-on into a Hyundai utility vehicle. Authorities determined the driver was intoxicated and she was arrested and booked at San Benito County Jail.

It’s unknown if either motorist was injured or hospitalized.
