Two-Vehicle Crash Reported on U.S. 50 Near Strawberry

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. (June 9, 2025) — A head-on crash on U.S. Highway 50 near happened Monday morning near the community of Strawberry in El Dorado County.

The two-vehicle collision occurred around 8:50 a.m. on June 9th in the area between 17212 and 17521 U.S. 50, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) dispatch log. Callers reported the crash in front of the Strawberry Store, describing the incident as a violent two-vehicle, head-on traffic collision.

The CHP identified the vehicles involved as a blue compact sedan and a black SUV. The crash left at least one of the vehicles disabled in the roadway, prompting emergency responders to request medical assistance and tow services.

The Camino Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene. Tow trucks from both AC Towing and Welcome’s Towing were also dispatched to clear the wreckage.

The condition of the drivers or any passengers has not been released. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Highway 50, which runs through the Sierra Nevada and serves as a major route between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe, is known for its narrow, winding stretches — especially near the mountain towns. Drivers are urged to use caution, particularly in rural areas where shoulders are limited and passing can be dangerous.
