Head-on Crash on State Route 154 at Santa Ynez River Bridge
SANTA YNEZ, Calif., (June 11, 2026) — A head-on crash involving multiple vehicles on eastbound State Route 154 at the Santa Ynez River Bridge resulted in significant injuries on Thursday afternoon in Santa Ynez.
The incident occurred on June 11th at approximately 12:21 PM and involved a blue or green Ford Bronco that went into the opposite lane before the traffic accident. Then the driver of a grey Jeep swerved to avoid it and went into oncoming traffic, where it collided head-on with a white pickup truck, according to California Highway Patrol logs. The collision reportedly involved a total of four vehicles.
Emergency responders, including the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Transportation, were dispatched to the scene to manage the extensive debris and assist the injured. At one point, the eastbound lanes were completely blocked, and traffic was shut down at the nearby roundabout to allow for emergency operations and the safe landing of a CALSTAR helicopter.
The injured individuals were treated on-site and transported to local hospitals for further medical care. Their identities and the extent of their injuries have not been disclosed at this time.
