Pickup Truck, Jeep Collide in Columbia, Calif.
Tuolumne County, Calif. (Dec. 5, 2024) — A head-on crash happened Thursday afternoon on Parrotts Ferry Road in Columbia, a town in Tuolumne County.
The traffic accident occurred in a 25 mph zone at 12:08 p.m. on Dec. 5th, just north of the cross streets Green Street N. Gold Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the drivers of a white Ford pickup truck and a beige Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV were involved. The vehicles collided near a turnout in the roadway in front of 23767 Parrotts Ferry Road, the report said.
Cal Fire sent firefighters to the scene to help those injured in the crash. MyMotherLode.com reported a female driver was allegedly driving under the influence. She suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Police reportedly arrested the woman on DUI charges.
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is heading up the investigation into fault for the crash on Parrotts Ferry Road.
