Major Head-on Collision at Intersection Near Pleasant Grove
PLEASANT GROVE, CALIF. (April 25, 2024) — A head-on crash at West Riego Road and Pacific Avenue happened Thursday afternoon in the Pleasant Grove area.
The two-vehicle crash occurred at around 3 p.m. on April 25th, in Sutter County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a white Ford F-350 pickup truck owing a black trailer with a Bobcat Skidsteer and a gray Toyota Camry were involved. The car reportedly crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided with the pickup truck, according to ABC 10 News.
Both of the vehicles sustained major front-end damage when one of them veered into the path of the other motorist.
Firefighters responded and extricated the Roseville man who was trapped in his car after the accident.
A 24-year-old Roseville man driving the car died in the collision and two others including a 55-year-old driver and his 27-year-old passenger were taken to a hospital. The driver who is from Sacramento had major injuries and the younger Sacramento man had complaints of pain.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the traffic accident on Riego Road and Pacific Ave.
Sutter County Accident Statistics
There were roughly 727 injury and fatality crashes in Sutter County in 2021, according to the latest statistics compiled by the Office of Traffic Safety.
The report shows 117 of these crashes were alcohol-related and 116 involved a driver who was speeding, the report said.
