Green Valley Resident, Brian Zimmerman, Hurt in Head-on Crash
LOS ANGELES, California (August 17, 2017) —Brian Zimmerman, 37, of Green Valley and Carlos Ballardo, 28, of Lancaster were both hospitalized with major injuries Wednesday night following a head-on crash on San Francisquito Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported to the CHP about 7:15 p.m. last night at Mile Marker 8.9 just north of Newhall.
While the circumstances remain under investigation, the preliminary findings by police state that Ballardo was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt at speeds of 80 mph on San Francisquito Road. He came to a blind curve in the roadway where he allegedly crossed over double yellow lines into opposing traffic to pass as many as five or six slower-moving vehicles. Ballardo’s vehicle then slammed head-on into a 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by Zimmerman.
Police stated that multiple witnesses reported that before the crash Ballardo was driving in a reckless manner in the southbound lanes at high speeds.

Head-on Crash Investigation
Police continue to investigate this collision and no arrests have been made at this time. It appears based on early facts for this case that Ballardo was the cause of this collision. Witness statements indicate he was allegedly driving recklessly and illegally crossed over double yellow lines to pass other vehicles. If this is verified by police, he may be held criminally liable for his actions. Additionally, Mr. Zimmerman may also file a civil claim against him for his financial losses as well as pain and suffering.
