Major Injury Collision on Vasco Road at Gate 25
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 20, 2024) — A head-on crash involving pickup trucks happened Friday morning on Vasco Road in Byron near the Vasco Caves Regional Preserve in Contra Costa County.
The vehicles collided at 17521 Vasco Road around 9:25 a.m. on Sept. 20th, at Gate 25, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicles were blocking both sides of Vasco Road and fuel was all over the roadway. Traffic was unable to pass the crash scene, the report said. At 9:56 a.m., CHP officials reported both directions of traffic will be shut down indefinitely.
Paramedics with the Contra Costa County Fire Department responded and located at least one man with a head injury who was still inside one of the vehicles. It’s unknown how many people were transported to hospitals at this time.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed both of the vehicles from the roadway.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on Vasco Road in Byron.
