Motorcyclist Killed in Highway 20 Car Accident
WILLIAMS, Calif. (July 21, 2023) — A fatal head-on crash involving a motorcycle and a van on Highway 20 happened Thursday near Schaad Road near Williams in Colusa County.
The collision occurred around 4:37 p.m. on July 20th, according to a California Highway Patrol.
A 24-year-old man from Seattle, Washington died and five others suffered injuries in the collision.
Motorcycle Crash on Highway 20 in Colusa County
A driver in a Honda Odyssey van was reportedly traveling eastbound on Highway 20. At the same time, the Seattle man was driving westbound on a 2012 BMW motorcycle, according to ABC 10 News. Both were traveling at unknown speeds prior to the collision.
One report stated the van’s driver moved into the westbound lane to pass another motorist, placing it directly in the path of the motorcyclist, according to the report. However, that has not been confirmed at this time.
Sadly, the young man riding the motorcycle died at the scene. All five occupants from the van were transported by ambulances to local hospitals.
Meanwhile, the people who were injured were described as two women ages 75 and 53, a 54-year-old man, and two children including a four-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy.
Finally, police closed down Highway 20 in both directions to clear the roadway and so that authorities could investigate the crash scene.
