Hector Farias Seriously Injured in Oil Tanker Truck Crash on Highway 166
NEW CUYAMA, Santa Barbara County (May 20, 2018) – A truck driver seriously injured after a fatal traffic collision on Highway 166 Sunday has been identified Hector Farias, according to Noozhawk.
The 64-year-old Shafter man was operating an oil tanker truck on Highway 166 when he collided with a Honda Accord. The wreck was reported at 4 p.m. near Hubbard Avenue in the Cuyama Valley.
As per the article, Santa Barbara County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol said 52-year-old Jimmy Riley was driving the Honda east on Highway 166 when for an unknown reasons he traversed a two-way left-turn land.

The Solvang man then entered the westbound lane where he collided head-on with the tanker-truck. The passenger in the Accord, 34-year-old Santa Maria resident Ronamarie Molon, was ejected from the sedan during the crash.
Officials affirmed that Farias was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital to be treated for major injuries. Molon and Riley, who were not wearing their seat belts at the time, died at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
