Hector Hirales, 75, Killed in South Los Angeles Hit-and-Run Crash
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (May 15, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash killed Hector Hirales near Trinity Street and 41st Place in South Los Angeles.
Police identified the 75-year-old man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place late last month on April 27.
The incident happened when Hector Castro Hirales was walking westbound in an unmarked crosswalk across Trinity Street near 41st Place in South Los Angeles.
At the same time, a vehicle made a left turn onto Trinity from 41st Place. Police said in the process, the driver struck the pedestrian.
Driver Hits Pedestrian, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found him down on the ground. The ABC 7 News and My News LA wrote that the accident occurred at around 9:15 p.m.
The victim sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed him to a hospital, where he died.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the man and fled northbound on Trinity. They described the car as a silver compact SUV.
Officers are still searching for the hit-and-run driver who left Hector Hirales in the roadway. The cause of the South Los Angeles hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
