Teen Killed, Children Hurt in Fresno Crash on Chestnut Avenue
FRESNO, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2019) — Hector Sandoval, 19, of Los Angeles, was killed, two adults and two children were injured Sunday night in a 3-vehicle crash on Chestnut Avenue.
The collision was reported at 7 p.m., just south of Church Avenue. Police say the drivers of a Jeep Cherokee and a Toyota were traveling north on Chestnut when the Jeep was rear-ended and it overturned. Sandoval was a passenger in the Jeep and died at the scene. Two children who were in the Jeep were taken to Community Regional Medical Center and were in stable and good condition, according to the Fresno Police Department. Two adults from the Jeep were transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
The Toyota reported crashed into a third vehicle occupied by a 10-year-old child who was with her grandparents. None of the occupants in the Toyota were injured in the crash.
Police arrested one of the drivers on DUI charges.
The crash remains under investigation by the police department’s major accident investigation team.
