2 Drivers Hurt in Collision at Ashby Road and Cooper Avenue
Merced, CA (June 24, 2022) – Heintz Guth, and Ashlie Resendes both suffered injuries following a car accident that occurred Wednesday in the area of Ashby Road and Cooper Avenue.
The Merced Sun-Star News published an article online reporting a traffic collision that occurred at the Merced intersection Wednesday afternoon. Preliminary investigation revealed 22-year-old Resendes, of Fresno, was heading west on Ashby Road and later attempted to make a right turn onto Cooper Avenue. While in the process, Resendes crashed into a 2019 Volkswagen stopped at a stop sign on Cooper Avenue facing south toward Ashby Road. According to the article published online, 85-year-old Guth was behind the wheel of the Volkswagen when the accident happened.
Shortly after 12:35 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the site. First responders found the Volkswagen overturned; while the other car sustained significant damage. Per local news source, both Heintz Guth, Ashlie Resendes suffered injuries as a result of the wreck. Medical personnel rushed the two drivers to Mercy Medical Center for further treatment and evaluation.
Meanwhile, officials mentioned a passenger in the Volkswagen sadly died in the collision. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Investigators continue to work at this time to determine several unclear factors surrounding the violent crash.
