Helicopter Crash Huntington Beach Pacific Coast Highway, Near Beach Boulevard

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Oct. 11, 2025) — A helicopter crash at the Cars N Copters on the Coast event prompted a full emergency response and highway shutdown along Pacific Coast Highway (SR-1) near Beach Boulevard Saturday afternoon.

Five people were injured in the crash reported just after 2 p.m. at the iconic lighthouse pedestrian bridge over PCH in front of the Hyatt Huntington Beach hotel, according to the California Highway Patrol’s incident log.

Video footage shows the helicopter spinning out of control before it dropped from the sky and landed near palm trees at the base of the pedestrian bridge.

At 2:09 p.m., authorities ordered both northbound and southbound lanes of SR-1 closed between Beach Boulevard and Huntington Street.

By 2:56 p.m., CHP issued a notification requesting a hard closure of the area, with officials estimating at least 30 minutes for emergency access and investigation. Fire personnel from Station 42 were also alerted, and communication lines were established for coordinated response.

Paramedics rushed five people to hospitals including two from the aircraft and three who were on the ground, the Huntington Beach Police Department said.

No information has yet been released regarding injuries or the cause of the crash. Authorities remain on scene, and traffic in the area is being diverted.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more details become available.
