2 Injured in Helicopter Crash at Santa Barbara Airport
SANTA BARBARA (September 26, 2017) – Two people were injured after a small helicopter crashed at the Santa Barbara Airport, according to the Noozhawk.
On September 24, Sunday, police were notified of an aircraft accident in the slough area of the airfield, just west of Runway 15 Right.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene shortly after 9:30 a.m. and found two people inside the wrecked helicopter, which came to rest on its side. Both parties were briefly extricated, and then rushed by American Medical Response ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
As per the article, the injured people’s names and details on their conditions were not available Sunday afternoon.
Santa Barbara Helicopter Accident
In an initial investigation, authorities learned that the damaged helicopter, with a tail number of N177SR, belongs to a Robinson Helicopter R22 Beta registered to Tumbleweed Leasing Co. Inc. out of Salt Lake City. The information reportedly came from the Federal Aviation Administration records.
At this time, officials are still working on determining what precisely caused the accident.
