HEMET, Calif. (Sept. 19, 2018) — A 65-year-old Hemet man riding a bicycle was critically injured after being struck by an SUV Monday morning as he rode his bicycle at Florida and Palm avenues, according to Riverside County News Source.
The collision was reported about 6:40 a.m. and the City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments responded to help the injured man who was found with major traumatic injuries. The dark-colored Nissan reportedly struck the victim who was thrown up over the SUV and landed on windshield before hitting the ground.

The investigation has revealed that the bicyclist was riding eastbound on Florida Ave. near the south curb at the same time a 20-year-old Hemet woman was driving her Nissan in the same direction on Florida Ave in the number two lane. As the Nissan passed the bicyclist, the driver told authorities the rider turned left in front of him and was struck by the vehicle.
Hemet Crash Investigation
The investigation into this collision is underway and there are certainly many unanswered questions about what happened. The driver reported that the bicyclist turned into her path, but we do not know if that was the case. Police will piece together evidence to verify what happened and speak to any witnesses to confirm the facts. There could also be surveillance footage available to help police confirm liability or fault.
We extend our heartfelt prayers to the man who was injured.
