California Highway Patrol officials responded to the scene of the crash at 12:30 a.m. where a 22-year-old woman only being identified as “Tatiana” drifted into oncoming traffic and struck and Nissan Altima carrying a family of five.
The 22-year-old’s vehicle immediately engulfed into flames as she was seriously injured and unable to evacuate herself from the car. A good Samaritan was able to save her life by removing her from her vehicle before the Hemet Fire Department appeared on the scene.
Each of the five family member sin the Nissan was confirmed to have been injured in the wreck as all parties were transported to Hemet Valley Hospital.
Police officials disclosed that the 22-year-old woman had been under the influence causing her to veer into oncoming traffic causing the accident. She suffered major injuries and was rushed to River University Health System as she remains in serious condition.
It was confirmed that speed was also a contributing factor in the collision as the California Highway Patrol continue their investigation.
