2 Motorists in Chevy Pickup Badly Hurt
LOCATION: Hemet, CA
DATE OF INCIDENT: Saturday, March 26th
March 26, 2018- According to the Hemet Police Department, a deadly fatal DUI head-on collision where one person died and several others were injured was reported Saturday night on Mountain Avenue at or near Ramona Expressway.
Per the article, the deadly wreck occurred at an estimated time of 10:32 p.m. between a Ford Focus and Chevy pickup truck.
According to police officials, witnesses testified that the driver of the Ford had been speeding and driving erratically just moments before broadsiding the passenger side of the Chevy truck.
Following the crash, the Chevy rolled over subsequently ejecting one of its occupants from the vehicle while the other remained trapped inside. Both victims who have not been identified suffered serious injuries and are currently being hospitalized at a local trauma center.
Per the Riverside County News, the driver of the Ford who has not been ID’d was either filming or being filmed by a passenger likely creating a distraction before triggering the crash.
Driver of Ford Was Driving Intoxicated
Both the driver and passenger of the Ford were seriously injured and determined that the driver of the Ford was likely under the influence at the time of the crash. The male driver was gravely injured and ultimately ended up succumbing to his injuries at Riverside University Health System Medical Center.
No details have been provided in regards to the passenger’s condition.
The Hemet Police Department is currently handling the investigation.
