HEMET, California (March 24, 2017) – A student seriously injured after being struck on Mustang Way while he was walking to school Friday morning, according to The Press Enterprise. (map)
The accident took place at 6:28 a.m. near Morgan Hill Road.
As per the article, a statement released by the Hemet police said the 16-year-old student was crossing Mustang Way near West Valley High School when he was hit by a Dodge Dakota pickup. The boy was reportedly inside a crosswalk at the time.
The teen was found unconscious following the crash. He was then flown to a nearby trauma center and was listed in critical condition.
His name has not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police said the 71-year-old man driving the truck apparently failed to notice that the victim was walking the roadway. He did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The investigation is ongoing.
