6 Injured in Hemet DUI Crash at Girard Street and Menlo Avenue
HEMET, CA (October 9, 2022) – Several were seriously injured after a DUI crash at Girard Street and Menlo Avenue in Hemet.
According to an article published by The Daily Bulletin, the accident took place late Saturday night. Officers reported the collision shortly before 11 p.m.
The incident happened on October 8 when multiple pedestrians left a party in the residential area at the intersection of Girard Street and Menlo Avenue.
Hemet police said the victims were about to get in a car when another vehicle struck them. Two women became trapped underneath a pickup truck due to the impact of the collision.
Drunk Driver Hits Car, Pedestrians
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and soon freed the women. A total of six people, including a 6-year-old child, ended up hurt as a result of the accident.
Medical personnel then rushed all patients to hospitals for treatment of moderate to significant injuries. The report did not release the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police determined that the driver who hit the victims was under the influence of alcohol. They soon arrested him for DUI.
Officers forced the area of Girard and Menlo to shut down following the incident. The Hemet DUI crash is still under investigation.
