Motorcyclist Herbert Long, 74, Killed in Redlands DUI Hit-and-Run Accident
REDLANDS (August 28, 2018) – An elderly motorcyclist killed in an alleged DUI hit-and-run crash on Live Oak Canyon Road Sunday has been identified as Herbert Long, according to KTLA.
The 74-year-old Riverside man was a victim of a tragic accident which occurred on August 26 at 6:45 a.m. in the 29000 block of Live Oak Canyon Road.
As per the article, police said Long was riding a motorcycle east on Live Oak Canyon when at the same time a Ford Mustang was traveling west.
Miguel Torres, 18, Arrested For DUI and Hit-and-Run
The driver of the Mustang, 18-year-old Miguel Ochoa Torres, then crossed over into opposing traffic at a curve and struck Long. The Fontana resident was allegedly speeding at the time.
San Bernardino County Coroner’s Department affirmed that Long was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, Torres fled on foot following the collision but was ultimately found hiding in a ravine. He and his passenger, a 26-year-old man, were both taken to the hospital and later released.
Torres was arrested and is facing allegations of intoxicated driving, hit-and-run and manslaughter.
