4-Vehicle Crash on State Route 4
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. (August 31, 2023) — A multi-vehicle car accident happened Thursday morning on Highway 4 in Hercules near Willow Avenue and east of the interstate 80 Freeway.
The four-vehicle collision occurred on John Muir Parkway (SR-4) around 8:48 a.m. on August 31st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the drivers of a white van, a purple Honda Fit, a white Toyota Prius and a silver Mercedes Benz were involved. The vehicles blocked the Nos. 2 and 3 lanes of the freeway.
The Honda Fit was undrivable after the collision and required a tow truck. The white van was also towed from the scene due to damage.
Paramedics with the Contra Costa Fire Department responded to help at least one person injured in the collision.
Meanwhile, investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the crash on Highway 4 in Hercules.
