1 Killed, 3 Injured in Hercules Crash on Interstate 80 Near Highway 4
HERCULES, CA (October 3, 2021) – A car crash killed one person and injured several others on Interstate 80 near Highway 4 in Hercules.
According to the East Bay Times and KRON 4 News, the tragic accident took place on Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 1:25 a.m.
The incident began when a Honda Accord rear-ended a Toyota Yaris for an unknown reason on the southbound Interstate 80 in Hercules. Both cars spun out of control upon impact.
Multiple Cars Collide
The California Highway Patrol said the Honda became disabled in one of the lanes. A Lexus RX350 approached and then collided with the Accord near Highway 4.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the driver of the Honda dead at the scene. A total of three other people ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon took the patients to the hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the westbound Highway 4 connector to westbound Interstate 80 to shut down for more than two hours following the wreck. The cause of fatal Hercules crash is still under investigation.
