Per the report, the crash occurred at roughly 9:40 p.m. involving a 2014 Chevy Cruze and a gray Honda Civic that crashed just south of Main Street.
Per the Victor Valley News, at least one witness gave a recorded statement saying that the Chevy Cruz driver had been racing a Honda 4 door sedan before drifting into oncoming traffic and hitting Civic.
The driver of the Civic identified as David Dubon tragically suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevy was seriously injured and flown to the trauma center.
Victor Valley News reports that the Honda driver who had been racing fled the scene and has not been located at this time.
The crash is currently being investigated by both the Hesperia Police Department and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
