HESPERIA, California (February 2, 2015) – A pedestrian was injured in a car accident Sunday night at the intersection of I Avenue and Darwin Street, according to a press release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
About 8:14 p.m., Hesperia police officers and the San Bernadino County Fire Department rushed to the scene of the accident involving a pedestrian and the driver of a Toyota Prius sedan. The pedestrian was struck in the No. 2 southbound lane by the driver who braked, but was unable to avoid hitting the man.
Paramedics airlifted the injured man to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he is being treated for unknown serious injuries.
The Major Accident Investigation Team is heading up an investigation into the crash to determine if alcohol or speeds were factors. They closed down E. Avenue to Eucalyptus Street until about 1:30 a.m.
“Hopefully this man pulls through and has a full recovery,” said Attorney James Johnson.
Witnesses are asked to contact Deputy Kevin McCurdy or Deputy Chad Gomez from the Hesperia Station at 760-947-1500.
