1 Killed in Hidden Meadows Crash on Interstate 15 Near Gopher Canyon Road
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA (May 7, 2023) – A crash killed at least one person on the Interstate 15 near Gopher Canyon Road in Hidden Meadows.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck on May 7 at about 2:18 a.m. near Escondido.
The incident happened when four vehicles collided for an unknown reason in the Hidden Meadows area of San Diego County. The cars crashed on the southbound Interstate 15 near Gopher Canyon Road.
Multiple Cars Collide
CHP said airbags deployed in one of the vehicles involved. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near Champagne Boulevard.
Medical personnel then confirmed that one individual died as a result of the collision. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, officers forced the southbound lanes of the Interstate 15 to shut down near Gopher following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Hidden Meadows crash is still under investigation.
