Pedestrian Killed in Highland Hit-and-Run Crash on Baseline Street

HIGHLAND, CA (August 26, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian on Baseline Street in Highland.

According to an article published by The Sun, the tragic accident took place late Thursday night. Officers reported the collision shortly before midnight.

The incident happened on August 25 when a 30-year-old Highland man, was walking southbound across Baseline Street, east of McKinley Avenue. For an unknown reason, a vehicle struck him.

Driver Hits Man, Flees Scene

Paramedics arrived and found the pedestrian lying unresponsive in the westbound bicycle lane as a result of the collision. He soon died at the scene.

The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, deputies said the driver did not stop to render aid to the man and then fled the area.

Officers forced a stretch of Baseline Street to shut down for a time following the incident. The Highland crash is still under investigation.
