Marcella Gaines, 64, Arrested
HIGHLAND, California (August 17, 2016) – A man was severely injured after being struck by a suspected drunk driver in a parking lot on Highland Avenue Tuesday afternoon, according to The Press Enterprise.
The collision occurred just after 4 p.m. at Food 4 Less lot.
As per the article, sheriff’s officials said 64-year-old Marcella Gaines was attempting to park her pickup truck when she reportedly ran over-top of the male subject.
The victim was dragged into some bushes and became pinned underneath the vehicle. He was rushed to the hospital with severe burns to his upper body, internal injuries, a broken leg and cuts to his face.
His name and condition at this time remained unknown.
Meanwhile, Gaines was believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the incident and was then was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing bodily injury. The 64-year-old Redlands woman was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
