Traffic Collision on US 101 in Nipomo Area

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., (July 16, 2026) — A two-vehicle car accident occurred on the northbound U.S. Highway 101, just south of the Los Berros Road offramp, late Thursday morning in Nipomo.

The incident was logged on July 16th at approximately 11:25 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The collision involved a blue Kia Forte and a red Toyota Corolla, both of which sustained significant damage. It’s unknown if there were any significant injuries involved.

Both vehicles were reported to be in the center divider, but despite the severity of the damage—major front-end damage to one vehicle and major rear-end damage to the other—both cars were reportedly driveable. CHP officers arrived at the scene around 11:36 a.m. to manage the situation and facilitate the removal of the vehicles from the roadway.

The collision is under investigation by the CHP, and authorities are asking any witnesses to come forward with information that could aid in the investigation.
