5-Vehicle Crash Results in Multiple Injuries in Manteca
MANTECA, Calif. (June 6, 2018) — Four or five people were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon following a collision involving five motorists on the state Route Highway 99, just north of Austin Road, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place in the No. 3 lane about 1:37 p.m. this afternoon between a blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, a blue Ford Escape, a gray Toyota and a white Freightliner cargo truck.
According to one witness who spoke to CHP officers, the cargo truck was the cause of the collision.
Police issued a SigAlert for the crash about 1:30 p.m.
TRAFFIC ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
Police are investigating this collision and will determine fault. At this time, we do not know who is responsible for this horrible crash, but it appears a large semi-truck may have caused the wreck based on the CHP report. There are certainly many unanswered questions such as who had the right of way, if any traffic violations were involved or if drugs or alcohol were factors. Eventually, police will put together a report with their findings.
We offer our prayers and condolences to all those affected by this crash.
