Hillary Wilhite Struck by DUI Driver
DATE OF COLLISION: Wednesday, October 10th
October 11, 2018- According to Action News Now, a deadly DUI pedestrian versus auto collision left one woman dead, two women injured, and a man arrested last night on Lower Wyandotte Road.
California Highway Patrol officials responded to a phone call notifying them of the collision which transpired at about 9:20 p.m.
Authorities report that the driver of an unknown vehicle identified as John Mandril, a resident of Banger, had been traveling eastbound on Lower Wyandotte Road. As Mandril approached two stopped vehicles up ahead which he failed to notice, he suddenly veered to the right directly into three women who had been walking along the shoulder.
The three women identified as Alyssa Gramps, Wheynama Sutfin, and Hillary Wilhite were all struck and badly injured.
Per Action News Now, Wilhite was rushed to Oroville Med Center, where she tragically died of her injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after her admittance.
Meanwhile, Alyssa Gramps and Wheynama Sutfin sustained major injuries and were transported to Enloe Hospital. Their conditions have not been updated as of Thursday afternoon.
John Mandril Arrested
CHP officials we able to determine that Mandril had been under the influence of what appeared to have been drugs. He was subsequently placed under arrest and taken to jail.
