National City, CA (August 3, 2021) – A police officer suffered injuries following a suspected hit-and-run crash on National City Boulevard Tuesday, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Our sources indicated a police officer in uniform was preparing to get into his parked vehicle near the 700 block of National City Boulevard. While walking towards their vehicle, a southbound sedan struck the deputy. The collision took place in the area between 7th and 8th Street.

Shortly after 7:05 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the crash site. Paramedics reportedly rushed the injured officer to a hospital for treatment. At this time, the name of the victim and the extent of their trauma remained undisclosed.

Authorities described the hit-and-run vehicle as a white four-door Honda Civic; with a model year between 2016 and 2020. The article published online mentioned the Civic had tinted windows; and three silver rims, with a black or missing rim on the front passenger side. Officials believed the force from the impact resulted in damage to the passenger-side mirror of the Honda.

Detectives continue to investigation several factors surrounding the hit-and-run crash in National City.
