Hit-and-run Driver Rear-ended Waymo in Downtown L.A Crash

3 Injured in Hit-and-Run Collision in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 7, 2025) — At least three people were injured Thursday night when a hit-and-run driver rear-ended a Waymo self-driving taxi in downtown Los Angeles.

The collision occurred amid a downpour of rain around 10 p.m. on Feb. 6th at Grand Avenue and West Pico Boulevard, according to KTLA 5 News.

Authorities are searching for the suspect who hit the Waymo taxi occupied by four passengers. The driver fled and then crashed into two parked cars roughly one block from the first collision. The suspect exited their vehicle and fled on foot.

Meanwhile, paramedics responded and rushed three of the four occupants from the driverless taxi to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

Andrew Townsend was the only occupant of the Waymo who was not taken to a hospital.

The Waymo crash in downtown LA remains under investigation.
