Women, 19, and 20, Hospitalized After Hit-and-run Crash
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2024) — Two women were injured early Saturday in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on College Avenue in the College East area of San Diego.
The collision occurred at 12:30 a.m. to the 5000 block of College Avenue, near San Diego State University, according to the Times of San Diego.
Two women ages 19 and 20 years old reportedly ran into traffic lanes in front of an oncoming BMW. The silver or black BMW was heading south on College Avenue when it struck the two young women, but fled the scene without stopping to help them.
The San Diego Police Department sent officers to the scene to investigate the crash. Paramedics transported the 20-year-old woman to a hospital due to a fractured left arm and a lacerated lung that required surgery. Also, the 19-year-old woman was also taken to the hospital for treatment of a lacerated liver that also required surgery, police said.
Authorities believe that alcohol factored into the crash, but both women will survive their injuries.
Witnesses should reach out to the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division at 858-495-7800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
