Hit-and-run San Diego Pedestrian Accident at Genesee Ave and Mt. Etna Drive
SAN DIEGO, California (MAY 1, 2017) — A 36-year-old woman was seriously injured Monday night in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident at Genesee Avenue and Mount Etna Drive, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The collision took place about 8:03 p.m. last night. The woman had been attempting to cross Genesee Avenue from the south sidewalk at Mount Etna Drive. As she crossed from west to east in the crosswalk, a driver in a black 4-door Honda sedan who was traveling eastbound on Mount Etna Drive, made a right-hand turn and struck the woman. She was transported to a hospital where she is being treated for major injuries.
Police say the man got out of his vehicle and walked over to the victim to check on her, but instead of helping her, he got back into his car and fled the scene. Police say the suspect driver is a white, heavy-set 40-year-old man with blond hair who was wearing a pale blue or gray shirt and gray cargo pants.
Police are investigating the crash and are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect.
