Truck Runs Over Cardboard Pile, Kills Sleeping Woman at Vons Parking Lot
ECHO PARK, Calif. (Oct. 4, 2022) — A truck driver ran over a homeless woman sleeping underneath cardboard in an Echo Park Vons parking lot early Tuesday morning at Alvarado and Montana streets.
The truck driver ran over a pile of cardboard when he entered the parking lot to make a U-turn, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A woman in her 30s was asleep under the cardboard pile, according to the Los Angeles Times. She suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office will identify her after notification of her family members.
Police were notified by a passerby who saw the body of the woman.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded, but she died on scene.
Meanwhile, the truck driver stopped and cooperated with the LAPD traffic investigation.
There are no other injuries from the collision.
