Hong Fei Zhang, 77, Killed in Newberry Springs Crash on Interstate 40
NEWBERRY SPRINGS, CA (November 7, 2021) – Hong Fei Zhang was killed after a car crash on the Interstate 40 in Newberry Springs.
The coroner’s office identified the 77-year-old Hacienda Heights man as the victim in the fatal wreck which took place on Thursday.
The incident happened when Hong Fei Zhang was riding as a passenger in a vehicle on the northbound Interstate 40 in Newberry Springs.
2 Vehicles Collide
The California Highway Patrol said their car collided with another vehicle. The two crashed for an unknown reason near the Mile Marker 29.
One of the cars involved rolled over due to the impact of the collision. An occupant ended up ejected from their vehicle as a result of the accident.
Paramedics confirmed that Hong Fei Zhang died at the scene of the crash. A CHP dispatch reported the incident on November 4 at about 9:28 p.m.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 40 to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the Newberry Springs crash is still under investigation.
