4 Killed in Crash in San Diego County
FALLBROOK, Calif. (May 16, 2024) — Hope Elizabeth Wood, 48, and Peggy Moore were among four people who died Friday night in a head-on crash on State Route 76, near Horse Ranch Creek Road near Fallbrook.
The two women were traveling together in a Jeep Gladiator pickup truck when it crashed head-on with a silver Chrysler 300 sedan.
The fiery crash occurred at around 11:17 p.m. on May 10th, in unincorporated San Diego County, according to a press release by the San Diego Medical Examiner.
Also, a westbound Toyota Camry side-swiped the Jeep during the collision, according to a report by Fox 5 San Diego.
The unidentified 60-year-old Fallbrook man driving the Jeep and the unidentified driver of the Chrysler also died in the crash, the report said. Meanwhile, a third passenger from the Jeep survived with major injuries.
The Jeep was reportedly traveling westbound on SR-76 when it collided with an eastbound Chrysler sedan that crossed into its path.
Paramedics responded and pronounced four people dead at the scene and the sole survivor from the Jeep was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol’s Oceanside office. Witnesses or anyone with information about the crash may contact them at 760-643-3400.
