Man, 33, Killed in Hughson Head-On Crash on Geer Road Near Stanislaus Wildlife
STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (June 23, 2021) – A head-on crash killed one person and seriously injured another on Geer Road in Hughson.
According to The Modesto Bee and Central Valley TV, the tragic accident took place on Wednesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 2:30 p.m.
The incident happened when a 2005 Chevy pickup truck was going south on Geer Road in Hughson. For an unknown reason, the Chevy swerved right and hit a raised curb.
The California Highway Patrol said the pickup then drove into oncoming traffic, just north of East Hatch Road. In the process, the truck slammed head-on into a 2013 Nissan sedan.
Man, 61, Seriously Injured in Car Collision
Both cars rolled over upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the 33-year-old Sonora man driving the Nissan dead at the scene.
The motorist in the Chevy sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel took the 61-year-old Turlock man to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. The crash took place near the Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center in Hughson.
Meanwhile, CHP forced Geer Road to shut down between Hatch and Jantzen roads following the wreck. The fatal Hughson crash is still under investigation.
