Hugo Guzman Lopez Killed in Phelan Rollover Crash on Sheep Creek Road

One Killed 2-Vehicle Crash Near Chevoit Road

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA (June 12, 2025) — Hugo Guzman Lopez, 43, of Adelanto, died in a rollover collision on Tuesday, May 13th on Sheep Creek Road and Chevoit Road in Phelan, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The fatal crash occurred around 8:49 p.m. at the Phelan intersection in San Bernardino County.

A San Bernardino Sheriff’s deputy was the first to arrive on the scene and discovered the severe traffic collision. The SUV was overturned and blocking both lanes, and the sedan had major front-end damage.

Two-Vehicle Collision at Phelan Intersection

CHP dispatch logs indicate that the incident was quickly escalated to a fatal traffic collision classification. Emergency responders, including medical units and multiple tow trucks, were called to the site. Victor Valley Towing and Desert Valley Towing were both dispatched to handle the vehicle recovery and evidence preservation.

Hugo Guzman Lopez was identified by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
