Hui Jun Xie Killed in Nipton Collision on I-15 Freeway
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (July 19, 2021) – Hui Jun Xie, 69, of Oakland, died July 14th in a traffic accident on the Interstate 15 Freeway in Nipton.
According to the California Highway Patrol the deadly collision happened about 3:03 p.m. on the northbound Interstate 15, just a half mile north of Nipton Road.
Police say a gray SUV carrying at least two people overturned in a allegedly colliding with a white SUV on Barstow Freeway. The deadly crash took place near the Nipton Road off ramp in San Bernardino County.

Paramedics responded and located at least one person trapped in the wreckage. Firefighters responding to the crash scene worked to free the victim from the disabled gray SUV. However, despite their efforts, Hui Jun Xie, a passenger in one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene about 3:45 p.m.
There are no specific details about what led up to the collision at this time.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner identified the victim on their website. The report stated it was a solo-vehicle collision, but the CHP report stated otherwise.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the deadly traffic accident to determine liability.
