Bakersfield, Calif. (June 26, 2023) — Humberto Munoz Vasquez, 54, of Bakersfield, died in a crash at Panama Lane and Akers Road in southwest Bakersfield.
The deadly crash occurred around 3:15 a.m. on June 25th, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
Two others were hospitalized after the collision, the Bakersfield Police Department said.
Authorities responded to the crash at the intersection of Panama Lane and Akers Road and located a driver who was seriously injured, but the man identified as Humberto Munoz Vasquez later died from his injuries, the report said.
Meanwhile, a woman who was driving the other car and her male passenger both suffered moderate injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe the woman was driving her vehicle south on Akers Road when she struck the other southbound vehicle driven by the victim who died. The woman’s car then lost control and hit a tree.
Authorities believe that speed and alcohol were factors contributing to the collision.
The case remains under investigation.
