2 Killed, 1 Badly Injured in Humboldt County Crash on Highway 101 Near Myers Flat
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (June 14, 2022) – A crash killed two people and badly injured one person on Highway 101 near Myers Flat.
According to the KYMKEMP and Redwood News, the tragic accident took place on Monday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 4:45 p.m.
The incident happened on June 13 when a silver Toyota 4Runner hit at least two motorcycles for an unknown reason. The vehicles crashed on Highway 101, just north of Myers Flat, in Humboldt County.
Car and 2 Motorcycles Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the area of Weott. They found one rider who ended up thrown from their bike due to the impact of the collision.
The California Highway Patrol said the ejected motorcyclist and the driver of the SUV died as a result of the incident. The second rider survived the accident with moderate injuries.
Medical personnel then took the patient to a hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Highway 101 to shut down for several hours after the wreck. The cause of the fatal Myers Flat crash is still under investigation.
